Structural walls

Is that a structural wall? You should always consult a structural engineer to be sure but there are two places to look in your home for clues.

Look in your attic for vertical elements connecting your roof to your ceiling joist. If the weight of the roof is being transferred to a wall below, then it is most likely a structural wall. In your crawl space, look for columns. If you have visible vertical elements under your home, then those elements are likely carrying a structural load from above.
